One thing that can ruin an exciting travel experience is the stress of packing your things. You want to travel light and end up forgetting your essentials.
You tend to stuff it all in your bag but it turns out that you don’t need those things. Here are some common packing problems and how to solve them:
PACKING PROBLEM #1: YOU ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WITH AIRPORT SECURITY
Planning your travel doesn’t only include how to get there, but how to get home as well. Review your entire luggage to make sure you are not carrying something that is prohibited by the airport. Having your thing confiscated is somewhat humiliating and hassle as well.
Avoid this problem by checking your baggage beforehand. Remember, if you bring a prohibited item, you may be prosecuted. So if it’s not worth it, don’t argue with the officers or guards.
PACKING PROBLEM # 2: YOU LEFT YOUR ESSENTIALS
Before freaking out, weigh the situation first. How much does your essential cost? If it is a sachet of toothpaste or your favorite shampoo, don’t stress yourself.
You can always buy one from a grocery store. Still, the best way is to plan ahead of time. To make sure that you won’t forget important travel documents such as visa or passport, put them at the top of your list.
PACKING PROBLEM # 3: EXCESS SOUVENIRS
You may be tempted to buy souvenirs without knowing where to put them. Sometimes, a dried leaf of a local plant or a small stone is a good souvenir.
But if you can’t resist those fancy items, make sure you have an ample room for your baggage. You don’t want to end up paying the expensive baggage fees for a handful of souvenirs. So if you have to pay a fee, make sure it’s worth it. You can also save yourself from hassle by shipping your good back home.
PACKING PROBLEM #4: YOUR LUGGAGE IS BROKEN
Another hassle when traveling is when one of your bags has a gaping hole somewhere and suddenly, all your things are out in a mess. First, is to regain your composure.
Then ask an attendant if they have extra plastic bags. When you are in this situation, you have to believe in the goodness of people around you. But it is still best not to put yourself in such situation. Check your bags and have it repaired if needed.
